I Wanna go to Michawana!!

Since summer of 2007 Camp Michawana, a beautiful, Christ-centered camp west of Lansing, has given our growing program several advantages in increased capacity and up-to-date facilities.

Here is a summary:

  • Christ centered camp and staff that understands our program and our goals.
  • Beautiful setting of rolling hills on a wonderful lake
  • The lake is great for swimming, canoeing, paddleboats, and fishing. It has a nice sandy bottom, great beach, and a dock you can dive from! Campers will love taking paddleboats out on the lake!
  • Large modern dining hall - and a modern kitchen which means excellent food - so our entire camp can eat at the same time.
  • Awesome climbing tower! Campers are going to love this high adventure activity - and there is no extra charge. It's all included.
  • Miniature golf course! (How cool is that?)
  • Brand new High Ropes Challenge Course.
  • Increased capacity - no more turning campers away at registration because we are full! We can also now encourage campers to bring friends!

Ropes Course

Camp Michawana has a excellent new High Ropes Challenge course. Campers going into grades 6-9 can challenge themselves and their peers on this confidence and trust building adventure activity! Campers walk tight wires and even ride bikes all 30 feet in the air. The ropes course is only an additional $30 fee, and takes 2 hours to complete.

What is this year's theme?
Crazy Creation!
Genesis 1:31 - God saw all that he had made, and it was good.

At Kamp 2010, the campers will experience the awesome beauty and majesty of God’s creation and learn how to care for it as God’s stewards. The creator will reveal Himself to the campers through creation using the mouths of the counselors. This goal will be accomplished through Bible Study, Prayer, nature and wilderness activities, Worship, and Praise.

Who May Attend?
Campers must be going into the third grade through the ninth grade, and not be older than 14 years old as of August 1, 2010. Non-Redeemer members are welcome!

What is the cost?
$340 per camper, payable in full with mailed registration. The $340 fee is non-refundable. There is a $20 early bird discount if your registration form is received by June 1. (The high ropes course is an additional $30.) The fee with early-bird discount is the same as last year. The fee includes all activities (other than ropes course), including the climbing wall and zip line. Unlike many camps who make lots of extra money selling t-shirts and candy to kids at camp, there is nothing more to buy at Kamp. All snacks and a t-shirt are included. Camperships: Application for campership should be made by speaking directly to the Director, Mark Wuggazer prior to June 1, 2010 at 248-644-4010, or Email.
No camperships will be granted after June 1, 2010.

What activities are included?
Swimming, crafts, games, campfires, climbing wall, miniature golf, hikes, boating, fishing, archery, hayrides, and more!!! Please make sure that first time campers are aware that this is a bible camp, and we mix fun and games with bible study and worship. Our counselors are really good at making bible study fun and cool!

Can I pick my cabin?
The best way to ensure that you are in the same cabin with a specific friend is to register together. No commitment to cabin buddies is made by the camp staff, but we do our best!

Can I send my 2nd or 3rd grader for two nights?
Our Explorers program allows kampers going into 2nd and 3rd grade to come to Kamp for the first two nights (or any two nights they choose, subject to availability) and go home on the third day. This program is based on availability, with priority going to kampers staying the whole week. Therefore, Explorers cannot register prior to June 1. Explorers must register by mail or drop-off anytime after June 1. Explorers pay $130 for 2 nights.

What about Staff Applications?
Staff applications are now available on the wall outside Wuggie's office. Deadline is May 13, 2010. Sorry, CITs and first year counselors cannot download the application, because we want you to use our original form. But if you send Wuggie an Email asking really nicely, I bet he'd mail you one. Returning Counselors can download this application and send it in!  Download Staff Application.
