Youth Ministries

Our primary goal is to help youth develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by providing them the resources to grow in worship, ground them in the Word, and give them opportunities to witness and serve others. We also give them the skills and the support groups they need to make wise decisions at this critical time in their lives.

Middle School

This program is designed for 6th, 7th and 8th graders and is run in coordination with Redeemer's three-year confirmation program, which combines classroom teaching with opportunities to discover the role Christ plays in their lives and the lives of others. It is during these years that children start to build their own relationships with Christian peers, which serves them well through this sometimes turbulent age.

In addition to Tuesday evening confirmation, the program includes weekend retreats, church lock-ins, game nights and community service projects that offer spiritual growth mixed with fun and social recreation. To learn more about our confirmation program for this age group, click here.

Senior High

This ministry offers a wide range of programs to meet the needs of Redeemer's Sr. High members and area high school students, helping them to better understand themselves and the world around them through a personal relationship with Christ. We hold to the following goals:

  • Glorify Christ
  • Minister to teens, providing sanctuary, identity and support
  • Share the word with teens who have not heard the Gospel
  • Provide spiritual growth through instruction, service and missions

Heart of Worship: Open to all senior high youth on Sunday evenings. With its own Heart of Worship band, students come to this place of acceptance to sing, dance, worship, praise, eat, hold hands, mosh, cry, jump, pray and love. Average attendance is around 50 students.

Core Group: Also open to all senior high youth, this group meets on Tuesday evenings throughout the year with the core of the time focused on bible study, but before and after time available for fellowship.

Small Group Bible Studies: For those ready to have a closer encounter with God and witness for Christ, small group bible study and leadership groups meet during the week at church and in schools.

Mission Trips and Service Events: We think it's important that our youth realize just how blessed they are. It is at this age, where the serving of others can become ingrained in one's lifestyle, rather than an afterthought. The senior high youth hold a variety of service projects as well as dedicated events.

Family of God Soup Kitchen: Once a month, the youth group, in tandem with the Positive Parenting Group, prepares dinner in the Redeemer kitchen, transports it to Detroit and serves it to the homeless people at this shelter.

Mexicali Mission Trip: Mexicali, Mexico is only a few miles south of the border of California, yet is a world full of poverty and need. The Senior High Youth travel to Mexicali during Easter break of each year to work with local churches, providing children's bible studies, sports evangelism, and other activities while living in tents with no running water. No child returns from this trip without priorities being powerfully changed by Christ.

Kid Kat Summer Camp: Now in its 41st year, Redeemer Summer Camp is one of our most successful and exciting programs in terms of both Christian Education and Evangelism. In recent years, nearly half the campers are NOT members of Redeemer. Campers spend a week in rustic outdoors setting enjoying typical camping activities such as crafts, boating, fishing, hayrides, games, campfires, etc. But, our program is combined with Bible study, worship and singing which all takes place in a safe Christian environment. For more information and forms, go to Redeemer Summer Kamp.

All Youth Ministries are run by Rev. Mark Wuggazer, who has successfully led our youth for several years. For more information or pictures of various activities, visit http://wuggie.org.
